DOUG COFFMAN
I have been detailing steel since 1992. I started my drafting in high school and took a short break for a stint in the Army. After serving in the Army, I transitioned to a new professional path in graphic design, leveraging his leadership experience and strategic mindset. I then decided to attend college to get some much-needed computer and drafting skills updated. I started slow and worked anywhere I could get the practical experience I needed to compete in the market. Now, after 20 years plus, I am a seasoned structural and miscellaneous detailer who has worked on almost everything you could imagine. Along my journey, I developed a passion for detailing steel, and that is where I have put my focus for decades. My knowledge base has grown to encompass a certification from the NISD “National Institute of Steel Detailing” as a class 1 ~ senior structural & misc. steel detailer through the NISD (National Institute of Steel Detailing) detail certification no. #842. I and my team’s approach to design problems focuses on finding simple and elegant solutions for complex problems, collaborating with project stakeholders to deliver innovative and high-quality steel design solutions for a diverse range of clients. We are hands on detailers and would rather call the site foreman and the design team directly to get an answer and move forward as to not delay the construction schedule.
